Branding

While at The Washington Post, I had the opportunity to develop branding for two sub-brands of The Washington Post — Launcher and Climate. Launcher was a new product launch, while Climate was a soft refresh to improve content cohesion.

Launcher

I was tasked with creating the brand identity for a new venture for The Washington Post — a new vertical about video games. I was able to create a unique look for the microsite while also serving as the primary designer for the content. I developed the color palette, established branding with logos and site furniture without deviating from the Post’s already established style.

Illustration and art direction

In addition to establishing an aesthetic for Launcher, I was responsible for creating or commissioning a custom illustration for every story on the site.

The Washington Post’s Climate coverage

In 2022, the Post decided to invest in Climate coverage, and needed a light design refresh, I oversaw the visual direction for the expanded section, as we established a color palette and illustration style that was used across all climate-related content. The branding carried through to social media, columns and newsletters across the section.
