Hello!

My name is Joe Moore. I’m a visual journalist, designer and leader helping craft smarter stories through compelling design.

I am a visual editor, designer and creative thinker with 20 years of experience in journalism. Most recently, I was a senior editor at The Washington Post, where I focused on identifying visual story opportunities for international coverage. I collaborated with newsroom visual teams to elevate the Post’s most ambitious journalism. As a design editor, I managed a team of designers who worked primarily on Climate and International coverage.

Visual editing

As a visual editor and design editor at The Washington Post. I focused primarily on International and Climate coverage, where I edited interactive projects, working with designers and other visual partners on elevating our most ambitious journalism.

Branding

While at The Washington Post, I had the opportunity to develop branding for two sub-brands of The Washington Post — Launcher and Climate. Launcher was a new product launch, while Climate was a soft refresh to improve content cohesion.

Design work

I have worked across many mediums and platforms in my 20-year career in journalism. At The Washington Post, I was a developer, art director and print designer before becoming a design editor in 2022. This is sampling of my design work before my shift to management.
